Motivation

What I love about…

Marketing

I love the psychology of sales. It’s fascinating to discover what motivates consumers to purchase different things, and it’s a fun challenge to figure out the best way to communicate value and benefits to the right audience. While my strategic approach tends to be data driven, I really excel at collecting and interpreting qualitative research; I absolutely love getting to know other people and learning what makes them tick.

Advertising

This discipline combines two of my favorite things: art + persuasion. Unlike the sales aspect of marketing, I love how advertising uses creativity to change how consumers think, feel, and act with regards to a company, product, or idea. Branding holds a special place in my heart, as I believe that for any organization to truly be successful, they must be able to clearly understand and communicate what their brand stands for.

Digital Media

I have lived with emerging tech my entire life. My dad was an early computer programmer who brought home one of the first Apple computers for the family to play with. I love the elegant logic of code and appreciate the ease of replicating results through the use of systems. Digital media, to me, is a perfect marriage of communication, art, sales, brand continuity, persuasion, and discovery built upon a logical system. I truly enjoy the research, testing, tweaking, strategy, and lather-rinse-repeat elements of digital media.

Creativity

I try to do something creative every single day. When I don’t, I feel like my soul is being sucked dry. Here are some examples of how I fill my free time:

  • Making functional art
  • Photography
  • Container gardening & backyard bird watching
  • Baking (I really enjoy developing killer recipes, like my keto peanut butter cheesecake and vegan lemon-blueberry muffins)
  • Silly stuff
  • I have owned and/or contributed to over a dozen lifestyle and marketing blogs
  • Travel
  • Beachcombing
  • Puzzle-type games
  • I am currently working on transforming my vintage Geo Metro into an ocean-themed art car
