As part of a school project at PSU, my team and I were tasked with developing a business plan which combined two unrelated business concepts.
We decided to combine coffee and bicycles in a retail setting which sold bikes and gear, repaired bikes, and had a small cafe with espresso drinks. The shop was named Gears & Grounds.
Our business plan included a feasibility study, marketing strategy, an advertising campaign, branding, a logo, and collateral. In addition to this, we planned to source products from China, so our plan also included guidelines and caveats regarding international business.
My roles:
- Logo Design
- Primary Research
- Marketing and Advertising Strategy
- Branding
- Technical Writing & Document Editing
- Presentation Design
- Public Speaking
Skills used:
- Primary research
- Secondary research
- Negotiation
- Persuasion
- Business Communication
- Technical Writing
- Branding
- Graphic Design
- Entrepreneurship
- PowerPoint

To prepare for our class presentation, I made shirts for our team with the Gears & Grounds logo on the front. This was not part of the assignment, but after I persuaded my team to treat our presentation as if it was a real client pitch, we agreed that wearing company shirts supported our brand and made our concept feel more tangible.
Our professor loved the collateral. We earned an A on the assignment.
